Residents of Wassa Saamang in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the western region are still in shock following an abominable act discovered last Thursday in the town.
Unknown persons are reported to have exhumed the corpse of a 30 year-old lady that had been buried for 3 weeks and had sex with it.
Many suspect the perpetrators are boys in search of blood money known in Ghana as “sakawa” boys.
A woman who had gone in search of firewood returned to announce that the late Sister Maa Adwoa’s body had been exhumed. Her family however turned deaf ears to the report. Some two weeks later, some youth of the community went to the cemetery to dig a grave for the burial of another corpse. One of them visited the grave site of the late Maa Adwoa and found the exhumed body laying bare outside the grave.
He informed the family who identified the corpse as theirs. They confirm that there are several indications that the corpse had been tempered with sexually.
They explained that the dead body was well clothed before burial but was found naked around the private parts with the legs wide open as well as other indications of sexual intercourse.
The chief of the area says what has happened is an abomination that may bring untold consequences hence the need for some rituals to be performed. He explains that aside purification of the land, the rituals will seek to invoke punishment upon the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
