Madam Patricia Appiagyei; MP for Asokwa

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei has urged teachers to help in identifying the strengths in the pupils they teach at school so parents could help to polish the talents.

Addressing teachers in the Asokwa Municipality during an end of year party she organized with support from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Madam Appiagyei said teachers play a crucial role in shaping pupils at school.

The guidance and directions teachers continually give to pupils and students, Madam Appiagyei said go a long way to instill discipline in them.

‘Sompahemaa’, as the famous legislator is called by constituents rallied both teachers and parents to take greater interest in the training of pupils and students get at school.

‘’As teachers and as parents our primary goal is to ensure we train and nurture the pupils or students we teach so we can help them discover the potentials hidden in them’’, Madam Appiagyei noted.

CURRICULA:

Speaking further, Madam Appiagyei underscored the importance of aligning the subjects and programs offered by schools to reflect the jobs available at the market place.

According to the legislator, one becomes effective in deploring his or talent when he or she gets a job that is related to the program of study.

In Germany, Mama Pat stated children who display talent in technical skills are identified early and put in technical schools or colleges so they get shaped up for field work.

This technique, the female legislator intimated needed to be adopted by Ghana and consciously pursued to ensure those who are best endowed in technical skills do not end up studying other courses they are forced to do because their parents decide so.

‘’Let us shape the curricula in our schools so that students and pupils who display qualities in technical skills are given further education in technical schools so they can meet the demands in the market place’’, Mama Pat appealed.

MCE:

On his part, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasa Gyimah announced the institution of a quiz competition in the municipality.

This, he said will help the municipality to identify the talents they have in schools located within the Asokwa enclave.

The MCE charged teachers to take up the challenge of training pupils to be able to display the talents embedded in them.

The Municipality, Chief Akwannuasa noted is committed in using education to transform its fortunes, adding the Assembly is ready to support any initiative aimed at giving pupils and students in the municipality the best form of education.

‘’We are committed to supporting any initiative aimed at giving our children the best form of education and as an Assembly our doors are open to partner in such drives’’, Chief Akwannuasa intimated.
