Suspects who are facing court following a staged protest by some Menzgold customers in Kumasi have expressed their frustration with the delays in the case after the court again adjourned sitting to Tuesday, February 26, 2019.
At a third sitting on Tuesday, witnesses failed to appear in court to begin trial as prosecution prayed the court presided over by Her Worship Mrs Portia Molly Anafo Salia adjourned the case to the said date.
Speaking to journalists after sitting, spokesperson for the accused persons Baffour Amankwaah said the situation is a worrying for the delay is adversely affecting their businesses.
Mr Amankwaah who is also a Menzgold customer said the liberties of his colleagues were being curtailed.
While maintaining his colleagues are innocent, he pleaded with prosecution to fast track processes to have the matter resolved.
He stressed that the case will not deter them from pursuing their agenda.
The seven suspects are facing court after they were arrested last month following a protest by some Menzgold customers over their locked up investment.
They have been charged for breaching the public order act and roiting.
Zylofon Media back on air after EOCO directive
In a related development, Zylofon TV and FM are live again after the Economic Organised Crime Office (EOCO) directed them to stop operation in the ongoing Menzgold saga.
The management of Zylofon Media in a press release on Tuesday 29th January announced the suspension of Zylofon TV and Zylofon Radio operations following EOCO’s order to halt operations following the press release confirming the confiscation of all landing assets of Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of the two companies.
A press release signed by head of communications at Zylofon Media, Samuel Atuobi Baa popularly known as Sammy Flex states that Zylofoon Media is a law-abiding entity and they are suspending operations with the belief that due process will be facilitated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to “restore sanity”.
Though this directive is not confirmed by EOCO as they have not issued any press statement concerning Menzgold and NAM1’s assets, it was announced on Zylofon Media’s Instagram page.
