A suspected armed robber has been shot by Police at Klagon in the Greater Accra region and a manhunt launched for his 3 accomplices.
The Police, led by Maxwell Kutowuyi, who were on stop and search duty at Nungua on 3rd January, 2019 pursued a minibus with registration number GT 2168-17 traveling from Nungua towards Ashiaman based on some intelligence they had received. The vehicle was loaded with assorted goods believed to have been stolen.
Ghanagong.com’s sources say upon reaching a sport approximately 200 metres from the Klagon Police station, the suspects who were on board the vehicle began firing at the Police, alighted and took to their heels. The police team returned fire and killed one of them instantly. The three others who were with him managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle with the items some of which are a big cutter, one live AK rifle ammunition, assorted alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, quantities of Milo beverage, Heineken, vita milk, Royal Aroma rice, Don Simon drinks, strong washing powder and several others. The items were impounded as exhibits.
The police are still on a hunt for the suspected armed robbers who managed to escape.
The body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for identification and autopsy.
