Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports; Joseph Yammin says 2018 has been full of controversies that are difficult to understand and accept.
Joseph Yammin who was speaking to Editor of News website www.rawgist.com; Bernard Buachi insisted that some of the controversies of 2018 will spill into the New Year and may never be resolved.
One of the controversies for him is the building of a National Cathedral.
The former Deputy Minister is highly suspicious of both the ruling government and also the body of Pastors constituting the Christian Council. He says either one of them or both of them are not being truthful about the source of funding for the proposed cathedral.
“In one breath, the trustees claim the government is not the sponsor of the project, meanwhile the government is fighting for recognition as the builder of the cathedral. Clearly, you don’t know who is telling us the truth” he stated.
Joseph Yammin revealed that he is in support of such a project but wants the government as well as the Christian Council to come clear on the source of funding for the project so the matter can be laid to rest.
“In one instance, we hear government is building a cathedral, in another breath, the Christian council lays claim to the building of the cathedral, and then we hear of ghost donors too. Christians hiding their identity and donated 2 million dollars and are tagged “ghosts”. If a muslim is donating and doesn’t want to be known, it’s understandable but I don’t understand why a Christian who is donating to the building of a cathedral should hide his Identity. Something doesn’t click” he insisted and questioned the priorities of the Akufo Addo led government if it is indeed funding the project.
