Ghana Religion-Pastor Joshua Obeng, an associate Pastor at Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) has advised Christians as well as the public to aspire for excellence in all they do rather than acting mediocre most often.
He noted God demands that those who come to him reflect his character and behavior in all things.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Understanding Strongholds’ in the church’s fasting and prayer meeting last week, Pastor Obeng said acting and behaving in a mediocre manner is a mindset people have cultivated.
Mindsets that allow people to steal, to be corrupt and to be stingy, the Minister of the gospel mentioned comes from a scarcity mentality which are all strongholds that cripple the mind.
‘’As a people we have in a subtle but gradual manner cultivated certain mindsets that sets us back from receiving from God what we deserve and we have by virtue of that thinking limited his power in us’’, Pastor Obeng posited strongly.
STRATEGY:
Analyzing strategies the Apostle Paul propounded in the Book of Corinthians, Pastor Obeng intimated that the only way of overcoming strongholds which are mindsets is to daily chip off every mentality that runs contrary to God’s word.
The human mind, he noted is the battle-ground for God and the enemy (Satan), adding this is where ideas, philosophies and thoughts emanate from.
PJ, as the servant of God is referred to by CCC members said the kind of lifestyle, ideas, though patterns and philosophies people display makes it evident who has control of their minds.
He, therefore, admonished Christians to be wary of how they keep their minds so they can reflect God in character and in kind.
‘’You will be known by the kind of character or lifestyle you lead and this will be informed by the mindsets you carry around’’, Pastor Obeng reiterated.
CORRUPTION:
Speaking about corruption in the country last Sunday, Pastor Obeng said corruption has become a canker within the social fabric.
According to him, one can no longer point to politicians as being the most corrupt since almost everyone in the country is cultivating that mindset.
Pastor Obeng noted the President could only do something little or nothing at all if the people refuse to chip off that mentality that accepts bribe before offering or rendering a service in public as well private offices.
He urged the church to lead the way of reformation by leading exemplary lifestyles with Christ-like mentality where crime or sin is frowned upon no matter how enticing it may be.
‘’We live in a country where corruption need not to be declared official because it is now officially normal to be corrupt and I believe we Christians have the greatest responsibility to shed off this dehumanizing mentality and live just as Christ lived on earth’’, Pastor Obeng passionately stressed.
