Ghana news–Nana Yaw Wiredu, the assemblyman for Ahensan-Estate Electoral Area in the Asokwa Municipality has described one Owusu Dome, the nkosuohene of the community as someone who delights in carrying out lawless activities.
Rather than using the laid down process as prescribed in the local government structure, the Assemblyman accused the sub-chief of bypassing the Unit Committee and his office in carrying out projects he terms as development initiatives.
Responding to a recent press conference where the sub-chief accused him of stampeding the progress of the community, Nana Yaw Wiredu rubbished the allegations leveled at him.
The Assemblyman noted his readiness to accommodate anyone who wants to help in the development of the gated community but noted no one would be allowed to bypass the laid down structures to do anything illegal.
‘’As a three-time Assemblyman for the people in Ahensan-Estate I am ready to give support to anyone who would want to help in the development of this area but I must add that no one or chief will be allowed to bypass the Unit Committee and my office to do anything in this community’’, Nana Yaw reiterated.
DETAILS:
Nana Yaw Wiredu noted the Nkosuohene since his enstoolment has sought to use his office to carry out some unauthorized initiatives.
These initiatives, the assemblyman noted are improper since no one in the Unit Committee Office was informed or was notified of same.
Even before he was enstooled as sub-chief, Owusu Dome according to the Assemblyman had constructed a public toilet which is nearing collapse due to the bad nature of the structure.
When these were pointed to him, the Assemblyman said the Nkosuohene felt he was being disgraced.
‘’I am not against development but when you want to do anything in this community it is proper to inform me and the Unit Committee of such so that together we can guide and show you the proper way to do it rather than constructing structures that can collapse and kill people’’, Nana Yaw posited.
COMMITMENT:
Expressing his commitment to the development of the community, Nana Yaw assured residents of constructing an ultra-modern market, recreational center and a modern public toilet near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) end of the area.
This, he noted will pave way for members of the community who are traders to do business in the area and save them the cost of doing business outside it.
He noted plans to also carry out more development projects in the community including the construction of mechanized bore-holes and essential public facilities.
With the elevation of Asokwa as a Municipal Assembly, Nana Yaw promised to lobby for more projects so as to make Ahensan-Estate a safe and modern community in the Kumasi Metropolis.
‘’My aim is to help build a modern community where issues about security, sanitation, education and health will be given serious attention’’, the Assemblyman passionately noted.
This assemblyman is being economical with the truth.
He is trying to stop the nkosuohene from undertaking any developmental project in the area just because he contested him in the district assembly elections.
The said nkosuohene is a contractor of good standing and is never true that a toilet built by him is near collapse because he did shoddy work.
The Assemblyman should please stop this ” I won’t allow, “I won’t allow” attitude of his.
Ahinsan Estate is not his bonafied property.
